The Woman’s Friend Society has been an innovative force for the flourishing of girls and women in Salem since its founding in 1876.

In celebration of the 150th anniversary, Bev gave a talk about some of the resilient young women from the Society’s first years, and read from her novel, The Rowans, inspired by her own resilient foremothers of early Cape Ann.
